Return Policies

Thank you for choosing Blu Dot SA as your go-to online shopping platform. Our priority is to ensure that all our customers are satisfied with their purchases. However, we understand that from time to time, you may not be satisfied with a product or service, and we want to reassure you that we accept returns.

Our return policy covers all products purchased from Blu Dot SA and third-party products and services. Please note that certain sections of this policy do not apply to Unboxed Deals, reconditioned, or used products, which are detailed in the relevant sections below.

Unboxed Deals are returned products sold at discounted prices due to damaged or missing original packaging, or signs of handling and/or re-packaging. Rest assured that we will do our utmost to repair or replace your product in accordance with the terms established in this document.

Please note that this Policy is an extension of Blu Dot SA Terms and Conditions, and therefore any words defined in the Terms and Conditions carry the same meaning here, unless stated otherwise. It’s important to note that this Policy does not intend to restrict or affect your statutory rights in any way.

Returning a product

Blu Dot SA’s Return Policy, allows customers to return items within seven days of the delivery date. In order to qualify for a credit, the returned items must be in the same condition as they were at the time of purchase with all original packaging, manuals, driver disks, accessories, serial numbers, and order details enclosed.

Returning a product: Your options

If you need to return a product, you have two choices to select from:

  • Send the product back using your preferred shipping provider
  • Request Blu Dot SA to arrange for the product to be collected

Important: Blu Dot SA maintains the right to retain costs associated with the collection of a product from the customer or the delivery of a replacement product.

Important steps to follow when returning a product

To ensure a smooth return process, kindly keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Fill out the RMA form in your account and include your order number or reference number.
  • Safely and securely package the product to prevent any damage during transit.
  • Clearly label the return reference number on the outside of the parcel
  • Please include all accessories and parts from the original package

Not following the above rules, may cause unnecessary delays in processing your request or even lead to rejection of your return.

1. Don’t want a product after delivery? No problem.

At Blu Dot SA, we understand that sometimes a product may not meet your expectations. We’ve put together a simple guide to assist you when you need to return a product:

  • If you no longer want the product after delivery, please return it to us or request for Blu Dot SA to collect it at your specified collection point
  • Ensure that the product is undamaged, unused, and with all original labels still attached
  • Unboxed, reconditioned, or used products should be in their original packaging, unused, and with all original seals intact
  • The product should have no missing parts or accessories
  • Complete an RMA on our website within 7 days from the day you received the order. If you return a product after 7 days, it should be because it’s defective

Please note:

  • We do not process returns for digital products such as electronic vouchers, gaming codes, or any digital download.
  • Audio, video recordings or computer software that has been unsealed will not be processed for a return
  • After we receive the product, we will subject it to an internal inspection. Once the inspection is complete, we will credit your account with the purchase price, less any courier cost or handling fee, within 10 business days. If you prefer a direct refund, we will transfer the amount accordingly.
  • If the product you ordered has a defect or a factory manufacturing fault, we will not charge you any additional costs.

Would you like an exchange?

Kindly note that only the same variation of the unboxed/reconditioned/used product is available for exchange, provided such variation is available. Blu Dot SA will arrange for the product to be collected from your location with the courier cost or handling fee deducted. If a variation is not available, a credit to your account or a refund to your bank account will be issued within 10 working days. Please note that we reserve the right to inspect any returns before processing any exchange or credit.

What if I received the incorrect product?

We understand that sometimes mistakes happen, and the wrong product are delivered. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and would like to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Please complete the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form on our website, and we will arrange for the product to be collected free of charge at your preferred collection point, as specified on the form.

Once we receive the product, we will inspect it and replace it at no cost to you. However, if you prefer a refund, we will gladly credit your account with the purchase price or transfer the funds to your specified bank account within 10 business days.

2. What if the product is damage on delivery?

Should you receive a damaged product or notice missing parts/accessories, please inform us within 7 business days of delivery. To initiate the return process, complete the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form found on our website. Our team at Blu Dot SA will arrange for the product to be collected from your location, at no additional cost to you. Once we’ve received and inspected the item, we’ll either repair or replace it. Repairs will be completed promptly while replacement items will be shipped to you if we have them in stock. If neither option is available, we’ll either credit your account or refund your purchase price – whichever you prefer.

3. Received a defected product?

Blu Dot SA strive to deliver the best quality products and in good working condition without any form of defects to our customers.

Defect explained: In the context of manufacturing and product quality, a defect refers to any material imperfection or characteristic that makes the product less acceptable than the standard expectations in the given circumstances.

Please be advised that Blu Dot SA will not classify the following as a defect:

  • Damage incurred from normal wear and tear
  • Damage caused by customer negligence, incorrect use, or faulty setup
  • Damages resulting from electrical surges or sea corrosion
  • Customer’s failure to take reasonable care of the product
  • Unapproved modifications or repairs attempted by unqualified individuals
  • Instances where the product’s specifications, although accurately outlined on the website and suitable for their intended purpose, do not meet your preferences and requirements
  • Signs of handling and repackaging when dealing with Unboxed Deals or second-hand items

4. Product Warranty

Here is everything you need to know about our warranty policy for all products purchased.

If you have received a product which turns out to be defective or otherwise of poor quality, within 30 days period please notify us as soon as reasonably possible within the period after you become aware of the defect or poor quality,

If you detect a defect in the product within 30 days of receipt, you can take advantage of our free return service. Simply complete an RMA on our website and we’ll schedule a pickup at no cost to you. Once we receive and inspected the product, we’ll either send it for repair or replace the product for you if it is in stock, or refund your account with the purchase cost. If the repair or replacement process takes more than 21 business days, we’ll contact you to see if you’d rather receive a refund or credit.

  • Our policy on repair/replacement of Unboxed Deals, reconditioned products, and used products is that we will try to repair or replace them if possible. If we cannot find a replacement of the same type, we will refund or credit your purchase. It should be noted that these products are discounted compared to new ones because they are not in the same perfect condition. All products are protected against defects from the date of receipt, for a period as stipulated on the product’s additional information tab on our website, unless otherwise specified.
  • For any warranty returns, you must include the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) reference number and product order number. If these are not provided, we will not accept any returns.
  • Once we receive a unit at either the JHB or CPT warehouses, we will issue a reference number and test the item for 72 business hours. After testing, we will contact you with feedback on the unit.
  • Our warranty is a carry-in warranty. You are responsible for the return of all defective products after the first 30 days after receipt of the product, and the costs associated with the return. Additionally, it is your responsibility to collect any repaired or replaced items. We are not liable for any transport costs. If you want us to deliver or collect the product, standard shipping costs will apply. No collection or delivery by Blu Dot SA will be actioned, unless the client has a credit available on their account or pay for the cost of shipping in advance.
  • We will send the product in for repair, and, at our suppliers’ discretion, a product will be repaired or replaced if found to be defective during the warranty period.
  • If a unit can be repaired, it will not be replaced by our suppliers.
  • We will not send products that are out of warranty or have a void repair warranty.
  • We do not supply loan units. If you require a unit while your product is with the supplier, you will need to purchase and pay for a replacement unit. We will send the item to the supplier at our expense.
  • Any repair time given is an estimate based on information supplied by the manufacturer. We will not be bound by it.
  • We are not liable for any data loss whatsoever. Please ensure you have made backups of all relevant data prior to returning an item.
  • In the event of a returned unit being deemed faulty, we will issue a replacement of the same or similar specification.
  • No refunds will be considered in respect of the return of damaged or faulty equipment.
  • Any repaired or replaced unit not collected within 30 days of notification may be sold to defray costs. If you request us to deliver the repaired product, you will need to pay for the delivery costs in advance.

Associated Charges

When returning a product, it’s crucial that you send back all the accessories and parts that originally came with it. If any of these items are missing, Blu Dot SA may refuse your return as per legal regulations. Please note that Blu Dot SA has the right to replace only the items they receive from you, or the estimated value of the products minus the missing accessories and parts. Your account will be credited or refunded via eft as per the details you provide on the RMA on our website.

Please note: Blu Dot SA will not refund any donations made on the website. If your return items do not follow the policy mentioned above, you may be responsible for all shipping costs associated with the collection of the items. Lastly, Blu Dot SA is not liable for any interest on a loan account used to purchase a specific  product.
